No, and you won't be the first. First lessons start on quiet residential streets in a dual-control car, and the pace is set by you, not a script. Mention what worries you in the booking notes and the first lesson is planned around it.

Three stages. You start on a learner licence after passing the theory test and must drive with a supervisor. After at least six months you can sit the restricted practical test and drive alone with conditions. Under 25, you sit the full test after 18 months on a restricted licence, or 12 with an approved advanced driving course; 25 or over, after six months, or three with the course. From 25 January 2027 the rules change: the full licence test goes (a clean spell on a restricted licence becomes a full licence), a hazard perception test joins the restricted test, and under-25s hold a learner licence for 12 months. Lessons help at each stage.

It depends on where you're starting from, how often you practise between lessons and which test you're preparing for. You get a straight estimate at the end of your first lesson, once your instructor has seen you drive.

Yes. Every lesson starts and ends at your door, or at school, work or the test centre if that suits better. Pickup and drop-off are free in every suburb we serve across South, East, Central and West Auckland. No surcharge.

Free reschedule or cancellation up to 24 hours before your lesson. Inside 24 hours the lesson is charged in full. Illness and bad weather are handled case by case. If we have to cancel, you're never charged.

Your current NZ learner or restricted licence (or your overseas licence), glasses or contact lenses if you need them to drive, and flat shoes.

Yes, if it has a current WOF and registration and is insured for you to drive. Many learners do their first lessons in the dual-control car and switch to their own car before test day, so it feels familiar when it counts.

Lessons are in a dual-control car. If you want to learn in a manual, say so in the booking notes and we will confirm before the lesson. Worth knowing: pass your restricted test in an automatic and your licence carries an automatic-vehicles-only condition until you pass your full licence test, or re-sit the restricted test in a manual.

On the day by cash, bank transfer or card, or online by card when you book; the same for lessons and the mock test. Card payments go through Stripe. The prices on the lessons and prices page are the only prices we charge.

A practice run of the restricted or full test on a real test route, following the same format and marking as the real thing. You get written feedback on exactly what would have cost you points and what to work on before your test date.

Yes. Book under your own name and add the learner's name in the booking. Confirmations and reminders go to the email you give us, and parents are welcome to sit in the back seat.

Yes. Depending on your country and how long you've held your licence, converting it may need a theory test, a practical test, or both. Lessons focus on New Zealand road rules, roundabouts, give-way rules and the test format, and a mock test shows you whether you're ready.

The car comes to you. We're based in Howick, East Auckland, and teach across South, East, Central and West Auckland, 7 am – 7 pm, seven days a week. The booking page shows what's free.

You get a confirmation email straight away with the time, pickup address and a calendar invite, then a reminder by email the evening before. Your instructor texts you on the way and arrives at your pickup address at the booked time. Need to change the time? Use the link in your email.
