These terms apply to every lesson, mock test and package booked with Learner Driving Center (“we”, “us”). Booking a lesson means you accept them.
1. Services and prices
What we offer and what it costs is on the lessons and prices page. Those are the only prices we charge. The price you see when you book is the price you pay. If prices change, bookings already made keep the price they were booked at.
2. Paying
- Lessons and mock tests: pay on the day by cash, bank transfer or card, or online by card when you book.
- Card payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card number.
3. Changing or cancelling a lesson
Free reschedule or cancellation up to 24 hours before your lesson. Inside 24 hours the lesson is charged in full. Illness and bad weather are handled case by case.
- Reschedule or cancel from the link in your confirmation email, or by calling or messaging 022 431 4020.
- Illness and dangerous weather are handled case by case at our discretion; tell us as early as you can.
- If we have to cancel for any reason, you are never charged, and we offer the next available time.
- If you are not at the pickup address within 15 minutes of the booked time and we cannot reach you, the lesson counts as a late cancellation.
4. What you need to hold and bring
- A current New Zealand learner or restricted licence, or a valid overseas licence you are allowed to drive on in New Zealand. Bring it to every lesson; without it the lesson cannot legally go ahead and it is charged as a late cancellation.
- Glasses or contact lenses if your licence requires them.
- Learner licence holders must follow their licence conditions. Your instructor is your supervisor during the lesson.
5. Safety
- You must not drive after drinking alcohol or taking drugs that affect driving, including some prescription medicines. If your instructor believes you are impaired, the lesson does not go ahead and is charged in full.
- Dangerous or abusive behaviour ends the lesson immediately. The lesson is charged in full.
- Your instructor may take control of the vehicle with the dual controls at any time to prevent harm.
6. The car
Lessons are normally in one of our dual-control cars, insured for driving instruction, including while you drive it under supervision. You are not liable for damage to our car during a lesson unless it is caused deliberately or by driving while impaired.
If you choose to learn in your own car, it must have a current warrant of fitness and registration, be safe to drive and be insured for you to drive it with an instructor. Your insurance, not ours, covers your car. We may decline to use a car we consider unsafe.
7. Pickup area
Pickup and drop-off are free at any address in the suburbs listed on the areas page. Lessons can also start or finish at school, work or a test centre inside that area. Addresses outside it need to be agreed with us before booking.
8. Mock tests and real tests
A mock test is a practice run and a written assessment. It is not a licence test, and its result carries no official weight. We do not guarantee that you will pass any Waka Kotahi NZTA test. Test bookings and fees with the testing agent are your own.
9. Your information
We collect only what we need to run your lessons and we handle it under the Privacy Act 2020. The details are in our privacy notice.
10. Consumer law
The Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 applies to our services. Nothing in these terms limits the rights it gives you. If a lesson falls short of what the Act requires, tell us and we will put it right.
11. If something goes wrong
Talk to us first: 022 431 4020 or info@learnerdrivingcenter.com. Most things are sorted with a conversation. If we cannot agree, either of us can take the matter to the Disputes Tribunal of New Zealand. New Zealand law applies to these terms.
12. Changes to these terms
If we change these terms, the date at the top changes and the new terms apply to bookings made after that date.
